Chance Vought F4U-7 Corsair Revell/Hasegawa in 1/48 scale

Hi, here is another walkaround from a kit of my collection, this time it is my F4U-7. The mouldings are from Hasegawa, sold by RoG for a good price and with very nice decals.
The combination between the glossy dark sea blue and the yellow/black stripes from Operation Musketeer ( Operation Mousquetaire) was a “must” for me.
According to Revell this one was from the 12. Flottille Aéronavale.
Hasegawas late mark Corsair goes nicely together, but it is in the cockpit very much a -5N
nightfighter. The stripes are the kit decals, this has worked even before i began to use softeners.
Build a few years ago, i replaced the antenna from new stetched sprue, made some retouches here and there. At one point in the near future i will add the rockets and
some new wheels, the wheels out of the box look too thin for my eyes.and a new exhaust staining as well
Presenting older kits, is always a trip in the past.
I hope you like it

  1. Bernd, a bright and attractive scheme. Well done.

  2. Very colorful bird. Bet they could see this one coming.
    I like it.

  3. Hello Bernd….Nicely done Corsair with a well-applied and colorful paint scheme. A fine example of modeling indeed.

  4. Good work, Bernd…I always manage to mess up stripes around the fuselage, but not on the wings. Yours looks nice.

    • Hi Craig, yes! To apply the stripes on the fuselage was not easy
there was a wrinkle, that was needed to sanded slightly down !
Thankfully there was a second version, without the stripes for
      a “emergency” ! 🙂
Modeling is sometimes based on luck !

  5. Excellent “bent wing bird” Bernd, great job on the stripes and the finish, looks great.

  6. Looks sharp Bernd, lovely Corsair sir.
    Well done mate.

  7. Sehr gut mein freund! I have 6 Corsairs and never built one. Yours is an inspiration for me to build mine. Definitely a Korean War bird. An awesome build Bernd!!!

  8. I love it ! Great work nice exhaust staining.

    • Thank you for your kind comment, Thomas. It was sprayed with
my trusty Badger 150. After 20 years my airbrush need some
new spare parts, the thread from the air valve has gone for good.
After ten minutes, the hose blew away, which is annoying, to put
      it kindly 🙁

  9. What great colors on this aircraft Bernd. I have had this particular model on my”have to build list” for some time.
