F-102A 55-3427 from the 190th FIS, Idaho ANG during October 1962

November 26, 2014 · in Aviation · · 18 · 2.3K

Second in (what is planned to be) a long line of 's, this one was built from the new kit in . Basically straight from the kit, with the addition of a Master nose probe and Pavla seat.

Paint is overall Xtracolor FS17875 Aluminium. The decals are by Draw Decal, with Fundekals stencils, although the serial number came from my Alps printer.

  1. Looks like a very clean finish, Chris, and nicely photographed. Just how big is this in 1/72?

  2. It's actually a decent size - you don't realise how big an aircraft the '102 was until you compare it to, say an F-4 - the '102 is similar in size but only a single seater...

  3. George stole my intended response, Chris...nicely done and great pics.

  4. Very nicely done Chris. Excellent craftsmanship and nice decal work. Looks like a winner to me.

  5. Nice looking Deuce, Chris. Looking forward to to see your collection as it grows

  6. I hope you have a 1/48 Deuce on your production line. Very clean finish. Nice photos. Congrats on a job well done!

  7. Great 102 Chris. Meng seems to be putting out some nice kits no matter the subject.

  8. These aircraft have just the right look - as though the 1950s angular jet designs just wouldn't go away - and this is the first Meng kit of the type I've seen built. Nice job.

  9. Stunning build of a beautiful aircraft and well photographed. Looks great.
Whats your opinion about the Meng F-102 ?

  10. Thanks all - it does help that the Meng kit is really nice. There are a few areas that need work - I wrote an article for Model Aircraft magazine a few months back which covered the work needed, but it's mainly tweaking rather than any thing major. The only thing I'm not too sure about is the radome profile - I'm coming to the conclusion that the Quickboost one IS needed as the radome on the Meng kit is a little too slender...

  11. Perhaps I should post the other 2 I've built?

  12. Well this prompted me that I went to the "stash" to see my 102
waiting for the realization of all the accessories that are available.
    will be next?

    Beautiful and interesting nice build!

    P.k
