Tamiya 1/35 8 ton semi track 20mm flakvierling Sd.kfz 7/1
We had our first real snow of the winter last night, so I thought I would venture out into the sub zero temperature to take some pictures of this old, but venerable, Tamiya kit. I completed this about 18 months ago, just before joining iModeler, in fact it was the model I used to authenticate my membership. It was built as per the instructions, and the winter camouflage was a mixture of matt white and khaki. I attempted to emulate the box art

Looks great George…..I particularly like the snow. Good looking figures too.

Thanks, Jack, with all that winter gear on you can hardly see them.

Believe it or not, ice had formed across the netting on the sides! Thanks for looking, Bob.

Nice work here George. Figures bring it to life. I guess snow is snow no matter where you are.
George Williams said on December 1, 2014
Hi Al, I’m glad I took the opportunity before the snow got dirty. Thanks for your kind comment.

George, that’s a great model, great photos and great effort too – I was thinking of doing the same with my winter camo plane, but it warmed up and our snow that fell Wednesday melted.
I think the snow brings the pictures to life –

Thank you, Ralph. What happens here is tha temperature rises a few degrees and it snows, then the temperature drops again, and the whole thing freezes. This snow will probably remain until next Spring, it will just get dirty and not look so pretty.

Good-lookin’ build and nice photos, George….how’d the seat stay so clean? 🙂
George Williams said on December 1, 2014
C’mon, Craig, don’t you wipe the seat before you sit on it? (That’s the best reply I could think of!)
George Williams said on December 1, 2014
Thanks again for looking, Craig, and for your kind comments.

Good job, George. I think I did something similar, but with a Dragon kit, and not in winter camo. The figures here strike a realistic pose as well.
George Williams said on December 1, 2014
Thank you, Rob. I think it’s fair to say that some of the old Tamiya figures are not of the highest quality, but grouped together like this they’re not too bad.

Great work on a Tamiya classic.
George Williams said on December 1, 2014
Thanks, Gregor, these old kits aren’t so bad, are they?
Bernd Müller said on December 1, 2014
Great build and a great presentation as well ( makes me freeze! )
And well done figures too !
Cool build, George 🙂
George Williams said on December 1, 2014
Cheers, Bernd, I had to have something warming when I came inside…………

Great entry George..
A nicely done half track and flak 20mm .
The old old Tamiya kits had something going then and still do I may add.
Like the figures as well.
Hope you did not get to cold taking the pics?
Well done mate.
George Williams said on December 1, 2014
Thanks, Simon, maybe we are like old Tamiya kits?
Richard Mcstay said on December 1, 2014
Looks cool! And what better a diorama than real snow! Non of that here yet, just the standard rain and mist.
George Williams said on December 1, 2014
Thanks, Richard, at the moment the snow is nice, but, by March, I’ll be really fed up with it!
Tom Cleaver said on December 1, 2014
Beautiful work on this, the figures really are the piece de la resistance.
Rob Anderson said on December 1, 2014
Great work on a classic Tamiya kit. DML may have the edge (usually not aways) on accuracy, and have some PE and such, but there is nothing to me like the look of a classic Tamiya box and kit.

I didn’t think you got snow where you live..super job, you can’t beat the background mother nature provides for setting up a model in it’s element!

Terrific job, George. Classic vehicle, and great figures.
