Fujimi 1/72 Aichi B7A1, Ryusei Grace

July 28, 2015 · in Aviation · · 16 · 3.7K

due to its long development never reached its intended role as carrier bomber. Very large plane with inverted gull wings is certainly interesting as modelling subject.

's kit is tipical mid-'80s, with subtle engraved details, but with very poor interior detail. I scratched some details in the cockpit and wheel wells and added Tamiya tape for seat harnesses. Gunze IJN Gray and Green paints were used, with chipping done with steel brush and kitchen scrubbing wire. Interesting results but a bit hard to control.

  1. I'm a big fan of these Japanese aircraft (nice to see something other than Zekes), and applaud your weathering efforts. Good looking model.

  2. Good job (especially in that scale)...I like it. By the way, perhaps you could tell me why it seems many Japanese aircraft have those rust-colored propellers. Was there a reason for that? Is it just primer or what?

  3. Thank you Rob and Craig. I agree, that we normally see "usual suspects" like Zero, FW 190 and so on, and there are a lot of nice subjects waiting for us model them.

  4. Milan, good to see one of these built. Pretty but obscure aircraft, Fujimi did a lot of end of the war, too late aircraft. Nice lines, though I like the Myrt and the inline Judy! Nice job on her.

  5. Makes for a very attractive model, and I think your weathering techniques were successful.

Impressive! I like your weathering. These Jap birds never kept their paint. Very nice indeed!

  7. Another very nice build from you, Milan.

  8. Not a common aircraft on these pages but well done!

  9. Thank everyone!

  10. Looks great !

  11. very well done, great paint job.

  12. Great painting!

  13. Looks really nice, it seems, iModeler is currently a good place to view japanese aircraft builds.
Guess mine will be in 1/350

  14. Excellent job! It looks even better IRL.
