SMS Emden Revell 1/350
Hello all,
Time for a ship! I'd like to present the SMS Emden from Revell. I bought the duo package with SMS Dresden and one day I'll build the Dresden in mat grey.
SMS Emden had quite a sail in WW1, just a bit over 100 years ago. See wiki for details.
My skills and modeling time are a bit rocky, but with this model I'd like to commermorate the military actions that happened exactly 100 years ago these years.

Congrats to your Emden, Maurits. It looks very nice and it is, a very interesting ship of its time.
Build it, as the kit came out first ( feels like 100 years ago ) and build it along with the book about her.
Of you like building old ships, Zvezda has a great kit from the US build, russian armored cruiser Varyag out. Looks like a gem of a kit in the box.

Abbreviated German phrase, means His Majesty's Ship.
Seiner Majestat Schiff in German.
I read the book "Last Cruise of the Emden" when I was in high school and the ship's exploits stay with me after all these years. Your build looks good, I think someone makes photoetch for this kit if you want to bring your kit to "the next level". What brand of paint did you use, looks accurate for the time period.
Hello, Humbrol gloss white and Revell. Not the best paint but the only one I can buy on a Sunday in the local Supertoystore!

Hello, I kind of like rigging. I'm into ships and rigging of every ship has some logic in it. But... unlike your Royal Caroline I'm a bit lazy: I rig 1/10th of the original wires, mostly seen on old photo's. Now working on the 1/96 Cutty Sark and I keep saying to myself: all the rigging!
