Bf 109F-4 (Zvezda 1/72)

August 23, 2015 · in Aviation · · 10 · 3.1K

This is my conversion of 's 109F-2 to F-4 easy assemble kit (snap fit). I've replaced propeller blades, modified air radiator intake (made it smaller), added additional armor glass windshield and made some other minor changes. Full WIP story here โ€“ http://imodeler.com/groups/work-in-progress-aircraft/forum/topic/an-unusual-109-swiss-af-f-2-to-f-4-conversion/

Model was not so easy to build as I've expected, but anyway it's a good kit, especially for beginners.

Painting scheme represents aircraft at Emmen Airfield, spring 1943. Painted with Gunze and Vallejo acrylics, weathered with oils (I make custom washes from an art oils) and pigments. National insignia has painted with masks.

  1. Beautifully finished and photographed - and in 72nd scale, too!

  2. Dmitry, beautiful job! I either didn't know the Swiss had Fs, or forgot. Those red and white crosses really do something for the airplane.
Rather than stew over which geshwader to do, I'm real tempted to do one like yours.
Plus, I avoid that swastica, though stirring up the i****s is FUN! Egad! Bernie is a NAZI! (sound of teacups hitting the floor)Horrors! Attack of the vapors!

    Good build.

  6. Really nice Dmitri, I like the subtle shading. (Is there any aircraft that doesn't look good in Swiss colours?)
