Star Wars TIE/LN Fighter
Here is my TIE fighter I just completed this evening. It is a Revell snap together stripped and repainted and converted to a "glue model". Scale is unknown but may be 1/32? I did all of the normal build stuff, parts clean up, seam sanding, etc. This is my first sci-fi model as I usually build aircraft.
I lit the cockpit and engines with LEDs which are powered by small coin sized batteries in the base with a micro toggle switch. I added some Waldron 1/48 scale instrument dials to the cockpit but are hard to see even with the hatch open.
I painted with Model Master light ghost gray and added a dark gray acrylic wash. Dry brushing was done with a lighter shade of Vallejo medium gray mixed with white. I did some weathering to the solar panels with a very diluted Model Master light gray sprayed in a random pattern with the airbrush. The base and stand were painted semi gloss black the misted with Alclad II magnesium to give it that metallic sci-fi look.
I quickly took the photos on the workbench with my phone. Sorry for the messy workbench :unsure:

Looks good...looks like it's pretty good sized as well. I like the lights. And don't ever apologize for a "messy bench" - OR the photos (I've seen much worse examples taken with a 'real' camera)...remember, if you cleaned up and straightened out your work bench, you'd never find ANYTHING. 🙂
Very nice model, like the LEDS, I,d like to learn more about this side of modelling. at 32nd scale, it will be a very impressive model!
A tidy bench is the sign of a sick mind! Most of my pics on here are taken on the workbench, usually with my iPhone, master photographer I am not! But I,m learning...
Great TIE and great workbench too 😉 Mine is in much worse condition, believe me 🙂 Whenever I make mine tidy that takes me a day and lasts a half an hour after I open a new box 😀

Looks great, even if it did begin life as a snap kit. The greebles on the solar arrays pop quite nicely with the wash you gave them. The Imperial Walker is another nice one, and certainly much larger than the old MPC version. (Although the head needs some tweaking.) What are the dimensions of the TIE fighter? Might have to pick one up!
Josh, the TIE fighter is 7-1/2" tall (9-1/2" on the stand) and 5-3/4" wide. The kit number on the box is 85-1875 and is by Revell. The stand is pretty wobbly. I wish I had checked that before installing the batteries and switch for the LEDs in the base. Next time around I will get/make a sturdier base.
