1/72 Hawker Sea Fury FB Mk.11

October 27, 2015 · in Aviation · · 11 · 2K

I hadn't posted in a while, so thought I would post up the first "double build" I did - from a few years ago. These were about 5-6 years ago - before I started weathering and post shading, etc. Only real detailing was the exhaust and gun blast staining (a bit overdone - that!)

I don't remember the kit manufacturers - I believe one was a kit and the other was also an older and not overly refined kit. What inspired my build was running across the set of Canadian decals. I picked out my two favorite schemes from the set and built both at the same time. They were both OOB except for the stretched sprue whip aerial on the tail.

Hand painted with Model Master enamels.

  1. First, there was the Frog, which has been released by Novo, and maybe others. The Turkish PM firm had one, and also a two seat trainer version. Lately, Trumpeter had a 72nd, and 48th, Hobbywhatsiface had a 48th.
    Whose RCN decals?
    Nice collection, good work.

  2. Nice work, Greg...I like those paint schemes.

  3. Personally, I like the Frog/Novo, easier to add stuff than to have to correct/delete it. There was also an authorized "made in America" Frog, boxed by Air Lines.

  4. Nice work Greg. In my stash I call these models, "my pre-model days". Models that are not bad, but were built before I had learned the technics I know today. Sometimes its worth going back and doing a little restoration. With that said, these look pretty good, of coarse I like Sea Fury's especially when they have "cool" paint schemes like these.

    • I've seen several folks to a "restore" project on older builds. I've considered it, but with almost 100 built and another almost 400 in my stash, I decided to focus on just improving and moving forward! Too few days left, too many builds to go!

  5. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Nice work on those two Greg !

  6. They look very neat, Greg, there's something about the RNAS colours in the way they set off the lines of these aircraft.

  7. Greetings Nice work old NOVO Fury"s

  8. Nice builds of this beautiful aircraft, well done !

  9. Very nice models and love the display stands. The wood and clear rod work really well.
