Monogram 1/48 P-51D

November 1, 2015 · in Aviation · · 7 · 1.3K

I know this isn't everyone's style, but I like to build models that look like desktop displays.

This is a gift for a friend.

Standard 1/48th P-51D. Rattle can paint. NMF is just cheapo silver

I hope you like...

  1. "...not everyone's style..." or not, I think you did a bang-up job on this. It DOES look like a desktop model (and a good one) - I love it.

  2. Thanks Craig 🙂

  3. Hi Troy. The final piece looks just like models carved from wood and painted to order. I think they're imported from the Far East somewhere. There's a model shop near me that has a large display of such aircraft, and they are in fact quite expensive, by which I mean around £100 for a 1/48 Mossie, for example. I think it's the canopy that makes the comparison accurate. Interesting take on the subject. As to your 'not everyone's style' comment, modelling is a broad church and allows any number of interpretations.

  4. I like it, turned out well
