Revell AH-64 Apache Longbow

A gift from a fellow iModeler (thanks, Frank) only my 4th build with whirly things on the top, but went together fairly well – even with all those ‘fiddly bits’. I’m assuming it’s 35th scale, judging from the pilot figures that I didn’t use. The box is long gone and the instruction sheet doesn’t mention the scale. No matter.

Applying the white borders along the windows was tedious – no decals provided – I had to make ’em first. MM rattle can OD, followed by Future, followed by decals, followed by Testors Dull coat (brushed on). Probably [make that definitely] coulda been better, but I’m callin’ it done.

  1. I think you’ve fiddled those bits up very nicely – I like the collection photo too!

  2. Yeah, Craig! He can do rattlecan OD, as well! That is one BAD looking wop-wop, glad it’s on our side. The white lining turned out really well, what did you use?
Three thumbs up, I’m an alien!

  3. Nicely done Craig, the rattle can OD looks fine mate.
    Well done sir.

  4. Super Apache ‘thanks for sharing

  5. Not bad Craig , just so’s ya knows that old wily bird is 1/32 scale I’ve got one in the stash I bought over 20 years ago when it was first issued . You do do that rattle can boogy better then anyone I know ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Looks like a helicopter to me, Craig, good job, the white lining looks really neat.

  7. Nice Apache! It looks the business! Great masking job on the canopy as well.

  8. Cool ‘Copter looks like a big p****d off dragonfly. You still building them as you get them, no stash?

  9. Craig this is a beauty!!! I have the Longbow in 1/48 from Academy. You have inspired me to get it out of the ever increasing stash. Well done!!!

  10. WOW ! Thats a really fine one, Craig ๐Ÿ™‚
Nice line up as well, your little aircraft museum is stunning but also a place for “natural weathering” ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Thanks, Bernd…..”natural weathering” to be sure! Everywhere out there. It’s a ‘catch-all’ room to begin with AND the cats’ litter box location (which is non-negotiable). Hence, the ever present dust…’natural weathering’. Gotta live with it.

  11. Hello Craig, nicely done and I liked the shelf shot….quite a collection there.

  12. Looks good Craig, with the canopy opened up like that it gives a very busy look, really is eye catching. Well done.

  13. ๐Ÿ™‚ … Greetings … ๐Ÿ™‚ :
Nice APACHE Craig, I always wondered how the REVELL 1/32 would look like ( true … like an APACHE … but I refer to model wise).
You are so right when you state … ” But I enjoyed it and thatโ€™s what matters “.
Thank you for sharing those images.

    • And thank YOU for the kind response, sir.

      • ….and I read your “other” message just now. I’ve painted figures in the past, but found the smaller the figure, the worse it appears when I get done with it. 32nd scale figures are somewhat easier for me to accomplish with some degree of ‘accuracy”. You’re also correct in your assessment of seeing the figure as just another ‘model’ to be completed. In THAT respect, I do indeed have quite the “stash” on hand. lol
Perhaps I should stop procrastinating and delve into the figure box – for something to do. Thanks for your input and advice….it’s appreciated.

  14. Hi Craig,
Job well done. Especially the open canopy.
