1/48 Hasegawa FGR.2 Phantom
Here is my 1/48 Hasegawa FGR.2 Phantom. I obtained it from another modeller as a “partial build” kit- I think only the wings were asembled- it was so long ago, i forget! I bought some Seamless S****r resin intakes for it (UK Spey engine intakes are different from the other F-4’s) and then after some more assembly, it sat for about 4 years.
I finally worked to complete it this past summer.
As with most Hasegawa kit decals, white is usually “ivory”- so I had to hand paint white on all the kit markings.
I set up a hypothetical load out- I could not find a photo of the setup, but based on the photos I did find, I figured this could have been possible. I had to use bombs from an Airfix Sepcat Jaguar kit.
I left the canopies loose so that they could be removed to view the cockpit, and then replaced. I have a Royal Navy Phantom on the build list so you may see it next year at this time.

Two really nice builds, Dan. Bravo on the intakes and other details that you labored over. Definitely worthwhile.

🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :
I saw this one and in a flash a happy grin was on me. I just LOVE the F-4, any F-4 to be exact, it just looks like business, no matter what livery is on.
Nice clean work Dan.

Thanks very much for your comment- I know a lot of people groan when they see familiar markings like what I chose, but I couldn’t seeing building it and applying any other scheme! it was fun painting around the snake in the tail emblem-not!

Nice build Dan and from one of my favourite squadrons.

Thanks Michelle, I had planned another in Barley Greys, but sold it off when culling the herd a bit. So the only other British Phanotm I will be building is going to be my RN one. I have a resin cockpit and boarding ladder planned for that one. I would be building it now, if not for a lot of partial builds on the bench i am trying to clear this Christmas break.
