One more to close out the year.... Bonneville Monster

December 27, 2015 · in Uncategorized · 16 · 1.3K

It's a 49 Merc chop top. 12 point cage. 429ci engine Even a driver.

The complete interior was modified to race specs.

This should fall into the pre 1950 modified class with a normally aspirated engine running on regular fuel.. It should have /GCC marked on the rear side window. That's for later.

Oh, the inspiration is from the real aluminum spun and machined hub caps from Pegasus Hobbys. These are wafer thin and fit perfectly. The front tires are from a Monagram Indy car, buffed smooth and round. Too much fun! I hope you enjoy.

  3. She's not cool, she's ice cold (like the weather here), putting those race markings on it might spoil it though, Steve, leave her as she is... Happy New Year!

    • Thanks George. I agree and I am leaving here makeup free.

Nicely done Steve. Very catchy color, looks very classy.

  7. Thank you very much. The sideways photos are recreating the rollover testing. OK maybe not.

  8. Nice Steve,lovely finish.
You can almost smell the heat from here.

  9. Why thank you Simon. Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf and three coats of Future.
This is the Revell 49 Merc kit that comes with a factory chop top.
I modified the interior a bit but a great kit out of the box. It just screams "paint me in wild colors"! I had to really show some restraint going with one solid color.
Thanks again and have a great New Year.

  10. Nice work, like it very much.
It's a very good example, how artificial light changes the colours. I liked the slightly golden finish very much. Was a bit "disappointed", when I had scrolled to the "pure silver" ones.

  11. Thank you for your nice comments Hans. The golden color is me getting use to my new Fuji camera. I have to practice adjusting the tint. I'll get there. If not I will re post in a few years when it has that old patina. Or I could get some proper lighting. That might be the ticket.
    Thanks again
