Dragon 1/72nd SH-3D

January 7, 2016 · in Aviation · · 9 · 2.6K

As I've just got the new Airfix 1/72nd Westland HC.4 I thought I'd revisit my US Navy theme and show an earlier US Navy version.

Keeping with the grey and white era which I so fond of, this is Dragons SH-3D version. I enjoyed the kit, bit pricey but got it reduced during Model zones demise.

A sad loss to the High Street and I still miss popping in to the Kingston store whenever I was in Kingston. The WH Smith version fills a need, but lacks the sheer volume of what was an excellent model shop.

The Airfix version seems to be even better and will add to my Fleet Air Arm collection.

  1. Seems like we've seen an entire squadron of rotary wing subjects lately! This is another very nice addition - good looking model Mark! I'm with you - the grey/white era is pleasing to the eye.

  2. Stellar build, sir...a nice job indeed.

  3. Fine build Mark, I have been looking at the new Airfix kit and thinking about getting it.
    Well done sir.

  4. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Very convincing build Mark. The paint job and colors are very well applied. Thanks for sharing the images.

  5. It's a great colour scheme, Mark, definitely suits it. Now, let me think, why did Modelzone go bust? Because people weren't prepared to pay High Street prices? Maybe...

    • Could be a reason I guess, but I always found their pricing policy competitive with Mail Order and without the postage costs.

Croydon and Kingston were well stocked stores, got new items in promptly and the manager at Kingston was a modeller himself and I found him to be very helpful.

Now where's that Airfix Sea King!

  6. Nice navy helicopter "The KING"
I also plan to acquire new Airfix

  7. Very smart! Great detail on a small model.
