Moson Model Show 2016 – Part 15 (figures, contd.)

April 26, 2016 · in Show Reports · · 7 · 4.7K

I almost have forgotten this batch of figure photos from Moson; here are the large-scale figures, busts and vignettes. personally, I'm a big fan of the latter category - the drama of life captured in small, carefully composed scenes. To me, this is where modeling meets art in the most tangible way.

  1. Don't know where to start with all the accolades. I see that even more "partial" scenes with aircraft are present in this batch. The 'testing' of parachutes from balloons is certainly an eye-catcher and I like the one with the nose of a [Boston/Havoc]? Such marvelous examples presented at that show. Always look forward to pics from that venue. Thanks.

  2. Great dynamic quality on many of the vignettes. The truncated vehicles etc really focus attention on the foreground figures.

    • PS meant to say a big thanks to Martin who has worked to present this series across a number of categories. Cheers for posting these great images over the past few weeks.

  3. Interesting mixture of great variety oft Topics. Excellent painting, surprising Ideas for vignettes - what more do you want?
I personally don't like the truncated vehicles or planes (especially the truncated hippo and the WW1-pilot with section of the fuselage "hanging" in the air from the first series; but the idea is remarkable).

    • I agree some of the ideas are perhaps a little forced (seeming to defy gravity) but they seem to be the current Big Thing, as seen at EuroMilitaire and other big shows on a regular basis in rent years. The parachutists for example I've seen done in similar style at least twice in the last two years.

  4. Some really great stuff. We don't see as many figures or vignettes in the contests around this area (although we do have a great historical miniatures society chapter that does some great work). I love the 2nd one - the scaffolding around the soldier - very creative!

  5. Quite a variety of subjects, Oddball.. can you say, woof! woof!
