La-5FN (KP 1/72)

May 9, 2016 · in Aviation · · 11 · 4.8K

La-5FN was one of the best fighter airplanes of the middle of WWII, and it was a late and the last version of before La-7. This version has a direct injection of fuel into cylinders for temporary boosting. Many aces flew this type of La-5 during the middle and late period of war.

My model represents an airplane flown by soviet ace Kirill Evstigneev (53 victories) somewhere in the middle of 1944 year. Inscription on the fuselage means that this particular plane was built on donations of a farmer (beekeeper) Vasily Victorovich Konev.

This is the new kit (released in 2015) from in scale and it's a new high-quality Czech short-run with a very good detail level. It was a completely OOB build. The only additional thing I've used was painting masks.

Painted with AKAN authentic enamels from the late WWII soviet set. Weathered with oils and pigments as I usually do.

Thank you for your attention, hope you'll like this little Lavochkin!

  1. Dmitry, Your La5FN is superb. I had to look very hard to make sure it isn't 1/48 scale. It says a lot for the KP kits & your skill, of course.

  2. Well done. Impressive looking model. The La 5 and Mig 3 are my favourite two Russian fighters from the Great Patriotic War. Thanks for sharing this one!
