1/48 Classic Airframes Hudson. What a delight to build. :)

October 12, 2016 · in Aviation · · 19 · 2.9K

Lockheed 459 Squadron RAAF Western Desert of Libya, 1944. Part of my growing tribute to my homeland RAAF.
For a limited run kit this was pure fun and enjoyment. Fit was very good, once you got past the sanding and test fitting.
If Special Hobby re release gem, they won't need a lot of additions.
Thanks for looking. πŸ™‚

  1. Now THAT'S different...I like it.

  2. Love what you have done with the place, Paul

  3. Wow! That looks good. Great job!

  4. πŸ™‚ ... Greetings ... πŸ™‚ :
I am very much with Craig on this one ... THAT is different ... completely different. I never thought I would see this scheme in model form.
Very nice work Paul, such a refreshing look. Your fun and enjoyment in this build really shows, and that is what modeling is all about. Thank you for sharing this one.

  5. Great looking model, Paul.

  6. Paul, I always enjoy the more unusual aircraft flown in WW2, this being in that category. You've done a wonderful build on it.
Is it just me, or is that the goofiest looking gun turret ever ?

  7. Very nice! I've got a 1/72 Hudson (old Airfix I think) in the stash, waiting for a scheme to be settled on. My vote is high on this one at the moment - more colorful than the temperate land scheme.

    • Thank you. I spent a long time deciding what colours to go with. Very happy with the result. An still got to do an RAAF subject with a difference. Enjoy yours when you do it. πŸ™‚

  8. Good job. nice scheme.

  9. Nice camouflage, Ihad always like coastal command colors.

  10. Very nice indeed Paul

  11. I don't recall that the words 'delight to build" crossed my mind when I did one of these. Everyone's got their own definition of modeling fun.

Very nice work on what I recall as a damn difficult kit.

    • Thank you Tom. I've seen your Hudson, which is beautifully done. I'm not sure why, I just loved this kit. Still needed an angle grinder on the fuselage. Lol. But it still went together better than others. The nightmare kit I'm still working on now, on/off for nearly 3 years, is the Special Hobby Fiat Br20. There's a kit I'll only ever do once. πŸ™‚ I'll get it finished eventually.

  12. Paul, glad to see one built and done beautifully. There's just something about Lockheeds airliner into bomber line, and back, real Thirties stuff. I agree with the folks that the turret is certainly odd looking. Wonder what the drag effect on it was?

  13. Very nice work
