Ferrari 1989 F1 Type 640 Tamiya 1/20

November 26, 2016 · in Automotive · · 9 · 3K

In 1989 introduced the Type 640 Formula One car, the first F1 car to feature semi-automatic transmission, and, much to everyone's surprise, it won the first race of the seawon, the Brazilian GP, driven by Englishman Nigel Mansell. Ferrari didn't win the world championship that year, but did win a few more races. This kit is of the late season Portugese GP winning car. The kit includes a full driving figure, you can choose either Nigel Mansell or his team mate Gerhard Berger. I didn't want to have a full driving figure as it would look at odds with the other F1 cars I have already, so I decided to just use the helmet. This meant removing the human head inside, sorry about that Nigel, I hope the anaesthetic has worn off now! I also added a curly connecting lead to the steering wheel. The bodywork is finished with Tamiya's Italian Red from the spray can. Thanks for looking. George

  4. I always like to see your builds, George. The finishes are always superb, and the 'potted histories' are a great project bonus.

  5. Some say that if you decapitate him, a new head will grow back... Or maybe that's just the Stig.
