Live from Telford: Zoukei Mura’s 1/48 Phantom.
My personal Telford Highlights, Part 1: Zoukei Mura’s 1/48 Phantom.
Very nice surface detail, crisp panel lines, very high level of detail at every part you look at. Obviously ZM this time have given up on their strategy to show the internal airframe details, but still the kit comes with detailed intakes and turbines. Wheel wells and landing gears look magnificent.

Hmm I wonder how it compares to Academy version?

My guess is it’s a step above.

It has engines and its maybe a bit better in details but the Eduard releases will be a hard competition for it, especially for the price of the Eduard/Academy offering.

I like the Academy kit, but it can be fiddly. ZM has a reputation for being fiddly as well and expensive.

Nice touch by Z-M to add the canopy open/closed option.

We hear “not another BF-109, Spitfire, Mustang, F-14”, etc., and hear a new F-4, I say more. Yes we have several already. But why not, there are so many Phantoms you can build, for a long time we had Monogram or Hasegawa, but to me it was getting old to keep building the same kit over and over with different markings/schemes. With Academy and now ZM it makes building them fun and challenging. Can’t wait to see what other variants they will make .
