1/72 Airways Vac form VC10 (British United Airways)
Finished this model at the end of last year 2016, took me at least one and half years to build, lots of scratch building including redoing the vertical tail, altering the fuselage where the wings are located as the step underneath on the original vac form was not as pronounced as it should be, the engines were re-worked and some detail added such as vents and grills, it has a complete cockpit interior, although not shown in these photos, but trust me its all there. I had a go at some 3D printing, and as I was able to get close to the real aircraft and was able to take measurments of the wheels and transfer these to the 3D drawings which were then printed off.
The model was primed and finished using Tamiya acrylics, all the text such as the logo and BRITISH UNITED AIRWAYS was drawn using Illustrator 10 and then cut out using my Cameo Silloutte cutter, I was then able to spray the text black.
The model was then finished with some light weathering on the panel lines, which I must add were all re-scribed, the model was then finished off with a couple of coats of gloss to seal every thing in

Thanks guys, just to add, that the cabin windows at first I tried Crystal clear but was not happy with the results, so a fellow modeller told me that he uses clear decal, which in the end I used,

Very nice and clean work Kevin. The display concept gives it a true fine and collectors touch. It deserves to be put in a case and displayed in an AIRPORT GALLERY , very nice.
My thoughts are that I probably will loan all my Vickers built aircraft to the Brooklands museum as all three I have made represent the aircraft there

Vac form and 3D printing? Sounds a bit technical! Very impressive Kevin, absolutely stunning modelling!
Luckily where I work they have a industry standard 3D printer that can print very fine stuff, so as I had the Rhino software I thought I would give it a go and design my own wheels and engine vents, thats one of the issues with many vac form kits they never came with wheels and props, and you always had to scratch build or find something similar from the spares box
