iModeler December Awards

January 18, 2017 · in Uncategorized · · 13 · 1.5K

In the context of iModeler, the year 2016 will be remembered for the solid stream of fantastic modeling inspiration. One last remaining action is looking back at our December contributions. It is my pleasure to announce the December !

That month brought us a total of 130 articles and 2018 comments.

Every month, all articles posted among the Headlines are included in our traditional honorary prize draw. We're awarding the Best in Show title to the entry that in the eyes of the jury represents the month's highlight in terms of modeling quality and presentation. In additional to this, we allot a second award to a randomly chosen article. We think that all contributions to this site deserve recognition, so this second prize is a token of appreciation to all authors and all levels of modeling experience that can be encountered here at iModeler.

iModeler Best in Show - December 2016

After an elaboration that took all the extra time we could afford having, the jury's agreed to award Stellan Schroeder Englund's M123 HMUPS Gun truck.

Stellan's models are often deceptively minimalistic in form, yet each of them conveys a well laid-out story, often with multiple layers that tickle the viewer's imagination into an intellectual gameplay. We loved the Guntruck for its tongue-in-cheek humor, the impossible physics that somehow feels so plausible, the thoughts about the modern world that it brings, the additional small hints and stories chalked onto its rusty armor. It truly is a delightful piece of modeling art.

Stellan's other contribution of the month entitled The Nursery has also been noted, for similar reasons.

But wait, there is more...

As said before, we are also awarding a prize as a token of appreciation to all our contributors. This is selected through an entirely random draw among all the entries of the month. This time, our lucky winner is Morne Meyer with his 1/18 scale VW Beetle Afrika Korps 1942, an interesting backdating of a civilian VW Beetle kit.
