Model Show Eeklo Belgium, 05 februari 2017.

February 15, 2017 · in Show Reports · 13 · 1.4K

Dear Modelers,
On Sunday the fifth of februari 2017 it was the annual show of my modelclub Eeklo.
Eeklo is a city in Belgium. Situated in the province East-Vlaanderen.
Invitations went out to clubs in Belgium and The Netherlands.
It was held in Party centre "Sparrenhof". The hal has a large bar/annex kitchen were you could appreciate the real Belgium Beer with a sturdy meal.
At this moment we have 23 dedicated members. There choice of their modelling gives us a wide variety from Science Fiction to wood and everything in between.
The pictures will give you a general view of what was on display on the whole venue.
Most important, the whole day there was a coming and going of visitors. Mostly NO modelers, so very interested in what was on show.
The last picture is hopefully the next generation of modelers. In this case very interested in the small rail road.

Enjoy,
Dirk

  3. Some great modeling talent displayed there...thanks for sharing.

  4. Quite the variety of excellent builds, love the wooden sailing vessels and the windmill. And a bar to boot !

  5. Some excellent models on display there - saw a few that I recognize from postings to iModeler...

  6. Dirk, thanks for posting these. Quite a variety, and some real unique subjects I'd never get to see, anyhow. All beautifully and imaginatively done, too. Love those wooden boats! The winter farmhouse scene, inside and out, is amazing.
I'm sure I'll be going thru this again a lot, seeing what I missed. There's a lot to take in. What a hobby we have! All over the world!

  7. Looks like it was a great show. Thanks for sharing these pictures with us.

  8. Good all-round selections. I enjoyed seeing the ship display. I think that the airliners set out just on the table cover without bases lets the side down a little, in my opinion. However the dioramas had some interesting takes and the modern jets are excellent.

    Thanks for posting.

  9. Hi Guys,

    Thanks for the responses.

I agree with with Rob Pollock. It is always worth the money to invest in a simple base to display your model. Personally, I am in favor of a diorama, see my Neptune with crew on the photo list.

We, as a club, have invested in a great stand as shown on the second picture. One of our members is a master-carpenter. The result is superb and always a matter of discussion for other clubs. It is made up of small sections. According to the space available it can be set up. Lighting is included with led lights.

Interesting to discuss these matters on this forum.

In my next report, coming from the largest scale modelling venue in Europe, I will show some large train tracks and remote controlled ships.

This will take place 18/19 februari in Goes, Provence of zeeland The Netherlands.

    Regards,

    Dirk.

  10. Dirk, I was wondering if that was your Neptune! It's a beaut!
    Agree bases add a lot.
Looking forward to your next show visit.

  11. Hi Bernard,
Yes, the Neptune with flight crew is mine.
As soon as weather is permitting, I will make some better pictures of the Neptune and the C-31A (F-27 Fokker Friendship) from the US Army Aviation branche.(Golden Nights)
    Highest Regards,
    Dirk.

  12. Thanks for sharing!
