1/72 Airfix MiG-15

March 10, 2017 · in Aviation · · 6 · 2.9K

I did this kit a few months back. It is an attempt to depict the at the Museum at , CA. It "started life" as a 1970's Airfix "baggie" kit, hence there were SOME fit and detail issues. This was my first (and a bit lame) attempt at sanding down raised panel lines and re-scribing a kit. Main landing gear, articulated gear doors, and various antennas were scratch built. Paint was Vallejo Model Air and Tamiya acrylics. Decals were a hodge podge. I have since sent it as a gift to Chris Fahey (yellow helmet) who flies it regularly at air shows. Sorry there's only one photo. I guess I got rid of the others...my bad.

  1. I like it, but what a tease to just put a single photo up!

  2. Very nice, Tom. Great weathering.

  3. Nice job (in that scale especially).

  4. Great job on an ancient kit.

  5. Good work, Tom. Not an easy model to make look that nice. I'm sure it took a lot of TLC.

  6. I just love jets of this era, great job, but more photographs would be appreciated.
