Tamiya Beaufighter Mk. VI

April 16, 2017 · in Aviation · · 29 · 3.2K

This kit was built originally as a Mk.21 shortly after the kit was released. I later felt that the foliage green overall finish didn't do it justice & decided to re-do it as a Mk. VI from 30 Squadron RAAF. This gave me a lot more opportunity for weathering & a bit more visual interest as well. I Made a few comparatively minor alterations to the model to suit the changes, but basically she is out of the box. This was the first of three I've built of these kits so far; there just might be room for one more...

  1. Tony you did a STUNNING job on this model. I am currently building the same kit as a SAAF Beaufighter that was based in Italy and used frequently over Yugoslavia late in the war. I have decided to scratchbuild a more authentic cockpit and rear compartment. Needless to say most of it will not be visible. Such is the madness of our Hobby. Well done. She looks amazing!

  2. Thanks Morne. I really appreciate your comments.

  3. I really like the looks of the Beaufighter, I remember building the original Airfix 1/72 kit as a kid and loving it then. I think this colour scheme really suits it, great work and thanks for sharing it.

  4. Nice work, Tony...can't go wrong with Tamiya - another nice build. sir.

  5. Excellent build Tony, looking forward to building a couple of these down the road having 2 of the 3 Beaufighters from Tamiya. I have never built one in any scale so looking forward to building them soon. Very inspirational. Thanks for sharing.

  6. That's an awfully nice build & paint job, Tony. I think the Beau is one of the coolest twins of WWII. Mossie, Beau, P38, & the F7Fs.

    Great job!

  7. Tony, Nicely done Beau. The color combo really makes it stand out!

  8. Really like it! Nicely done - subtle weathering and detailing. Excellent.
