Me-109 in 6 variants

Hi,
After being lazy for one year or so, I decided to start building a part of my collection from my favorite Me-109. I have some 18 kits from various firms. The first 6 you can see below, are the most ‘’simple’’ and built them to practice on some techniques. I also added some parts from my spare box to some cockpits and also used different painting schemes/ decals that the ones provided with the kits. At the end there are lots of faults on canopies, painting, decals etc. but I promise to have better results on the next ones.
Started with Hobby Boss G and old Hasegawa E and G. The second squadron consists of an AML B, a Mister Craft G and an ICM E-4.
My remarks for each one:
Old Hasegawa: Very good coupling, medium detail, poor cockpit
Hobby Boss: Very good coupling, medium detail, poor cockpit, good decals
AML (ex- AVIS): Awful coupling, very rough plastic parts, good resin and etched cockpit, good decals.
Mister Craft: very poor cockpit, too much flush on parts, wrong instructions (parts indicated in instructions were not provided in kit and others that existed were not depicted in instruction sheet), many problems on decals.
ICM: Very good coupling, very good detail and panel lines, good cockpit, very good decals.

Coming next: E from Tamiya, Airfix, Academy and Hasegawa
F from Zvezda, A model and Italeri
G from Revell, Academy, AZ models and Fine Molds

  1. According to your list, it appears you saved the "best" kits for last - be sure to get them off the floor before they get stepped on. LOL 🙂

  2. A wonderfully interesting project, and thanks for sharing your insights about the kits. Looking forward for more...

  3. Great project.
What has been your favourite so far?

  4. Looks like a great project!

  5. Nice grouping of 109's!
