PzKpfw II Ausf. F Afrika Korps (Revell 1/76)

July 2, 2017 · in Armor · · 16 · 2.7K

Hello everybody,

this is my first tank, I wanted to build it for my son - he is big fan of World of tanks... Because of my first vehicle, I wanted to start with something cheap, small, not complicated...

The build was really quick - 2 or 3 days, no serious issue - easy stuff.
Although I did not plan modifications, I did few - guns are replaced with alu rods, all covers are replaced by new ones made from thin plastic sheets. Also exhaust is a bit modified.

The kit is very good despite it is really old and I am very satisfied.
Painting and weathering is not quite standard for vehicles builders, but I like to do it this way ...

I said this is first vehicle - I already have second one prepared - Jagdpanther also by , but now it is a time to move on to Skyhawks, which are still waiting for painting.

  1. Wow ! The building and the painting are so fine that I thought this was 1/35 scale!

  2. Very nice build indeed.

Is this the old Matchbox tooling? Looks great.

    Cheers Greg

  3. Really lovely build Martin. I sometimes build with my son too and he has shown interest in tanks recently (he is only 6) and he got a Zvezda T34 for his Birthday! This has inspired us to get cracking!

  4. Hey, Martin, tanks are OK I suppose, and this one looks great, but I try to keep my grandchildren away from war issues, try racing cars and motorcycles, they are much more exciting.

    • Thats an important subject you've raised there George.Sometimes I have the impression that say 80% of modeling is military subjects and one half (at least) of that 80% is ww2 related...

  5. Extremely well done for the size, Martin...nice build indeed. I like it a lot. 🙂

  6. Great job on this kit. Nice modifications, enough to keep the original soul of the kit.

  7. Thank you all. 🙂 I opened Jagdapanther - it looks much better as all plastic is from new tool, but tracks are still from rubber. I guess this would be the last one from this series... I will try some more better quality next time. Tiger by Zvezda?

  8. If this is what you can do in 1/76 I'd love to see a 1/35 build. Huge respect.

  9. Great to know your son is a tank fan, nice that the next generation will keep up the armour work, and as for your build exceptional, for and old kit and in 1/76,I must say there is a great many 1/72 kits coming on the market today compared to my day,Do like to build one now and then myself,I think it takes more skill to finish off this size than the larger sizes.Thanks.

  10. This is great ! I'm also happy to hear that your son is a big fan of Armor. I was too at his age, and it's still with me. Had you not mentioned the scale of this Panzer, I too would have thought that it was the larger 1/35 scale cousin... I also think the larger scales are easier to build, and for me they are definitely easier to see. 🙂
Thanks for getting your son interested in the hobby.

  11. Unfortunately, my sons are not interested in model building, but rather in sports. However they like history, nature and armored vehicles a bit (maybe they change their minds after seeing this) 🙂
So I decided to build them a little gift, because I love them much.
I am thinking of bigger scale... I will see if I will foces on 1/48 or 1/35... But for now, I have no ambitions to build vehicles regularly as I have full stock of airplanes 🙂

  12. Nice build !, Can't wait for the Skyhawks.

  13. Fantastic work in is scale!

  14. Careful Martin, you're on the slippery slope to the dark side with this subject! Despite that, it is a very lovely build.
