M18 Hellcat

August 21, 2017 · in Armor · · 8 · 3K

Just finished my Hellcat... Bought as soon as it came out in 1997, started almost as soon as I got it home and finished this morning ! - no I'm not kidding.

I used about 30% of the Verlinden kit-specific detail set including some 'old skool' etched brass (yes BRASS), resin stowage etc, other stowage from various Tamiya and Academy sets, .50cal is from the old Tamiya US Weapons set. Most of the decals are from the spares box.

Really enjoying my AFV modelling at the moment, so much so that I'm even going to try something that isn't Olive Drab in the very near future ! - As ever thanks for taking the time to look and/or comment please feel free to make any comments, criticisms or ask any questions.

Stay tuned.

Ian.

  1. Very nice all-around work...I really like this one. 🙂 🙂

  2. Excellent work, great interior detail! It took me at least 30yrs to complete an Aurora M109 S.P.

  3. Really nice one Ian! You got me in a tank mood. Great modeling.

  4. This Ian just pops right out when I first viewed the images. Well done, and quite attractive for lack of a better word. I'm like you I got the Academy Hummer when it first came out in 1992, started right on it, and you know not quite done yet Aug 2017. I know your pain, though not really painful. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Nicely done.Ian

  6. Looks very nice - it's got a solid and realistic appearance to it!

  7. Thanks all, can't tell you how glad I am to get this in to the cabinet... maybe the delay was something to do with waiting for my 'skills' (such as they are), to catch-up with my expectations - who can say !

  8. Very nice! The weathering and dirt are done just right I think, very convincing.
