REVELL SURFITE

August 19, 2017 · in Uncategorized · · 8 · 2.2K

This model was originally released in 1965. It is a real car that was designed over the Austin Mini frame by Ed “Big Daddy” Roth. The model was re-released in 1993 and then again in 2015 with new tooling and a few new parts. There is also a date stamp showing the original release date. However, this is hidden inside the hut once the model is complete.

Upon the opening of the box you are met with a bubble-wrapped figure of Ed “Big Daddy” Roth. This is already painted and is supposed to be a bit on the amusing side. Which it is. I’ll not be repainting this as I think it will go good with the finished model. The only thing that needs to be added to the figure are a couple of decals. You get multiple choices to add to the shirt. You can see my choices in the photo below.

Decals are crisp and clear. They are new but adhere to the older 1965 design.

I didn't add a lot of detail to this one as it was just a "fun" weekend build. But the end results are worth it. I would suggest this kit for someone just starting out or for someone looking for a bit of nostalgia for their collection.

  1. Hilarious! I remember "Big Daddy" and his Rat Fink from when this was a new model! I'd been building 1/72nd planes for several years by then, and I decided to make a car model, which I did. One model. Ha!

Great job on the kit, Harry and thanks for bringing back some great memories.

  2. What a blast from the past! Far out dude! I think Hawk put some 'wild' kits out also .

  3. Ya know...I don't recall ever seeing that kit before (of course, I don't recall what happened last MONTH, so... 🙁 )
Were all the other parts pre-painted as well?
