Pilatus PC 6 1/32 Scale Scratchbuild ” COMPLETED”

November 9, 2017 · in Aviation · · 48 · 2.4K

Well its time to post, I started with the build on the 13 July 2017, with a roll of plastic card, good intentions and highly motivated. What I wanted to do was build the PC 6 as accurate as possible, in a few instances I have got it right, and there are a few things that I would change if I built it again. Everything was scratch built...I have just gone through all the progress pictures, and I do believe that if you put your mind to something, you can achieve it.

Needless to say it was the most challenging build I have ever done, and would gladly do again. I have learned so much, tried new things, re built parts more than 5 to 6 times ( The wings were built twice). Been so frustrated that I vowed that this would be the last model I ever build, considered taking up needle point as a new hobby or just become a couch potato instead.

It has been fun posting the progress and getting all the encouragement from you guy's and that has been the motivation to complete the model as I am sure that you have been waiting for some progress. Thanks to all of you for your kind comments and encouragement. This is an amazing site to be a part of with fantastic people that are interested in this hobby.

I hope I have done the build justice with the pictures I have taken with my Daughter.

Now for the next one...

Hope you Enjoy.

Marc

  1. I'm speechless, I followed all the post of step by step and it has great merit.
    Great job

  2. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! you already have my vote for an award at Nationals next year!

  3. I don’t believe this is a scratch built model, c’mon...seriously?,
It’s a fantastic looking bird, with presume attention to details coupled with a very colourful paint scheme. Just awesome. Wish I could do something a 10th as good in scratch

  4. Excellent work Marc, I have always admired anyone that builds a model from scratch. I think your result was worth the effort and speaks for itself.

  5. Superb work! Nothing to add.

  6. That’s outstanding, Marc! You have true talent. I’m most impressed by scratchbuilders and high end ship modelers.

  7. I can but only concur with the masses, sir...well done indeed.

  8. Marc, you're braver ... and a more talented builder than I ! This is absolutely stunning. If you need any more motivation for another project, it starts here !

  9. Don't know about brave Jeff, you were in Desert Storm, maybe I am just Stupid, or just a s****r for punishment, or both. Thanks for the comment though.

  10. True craftsmanship on display !

  11. This kind of build leaves one speechless. You have definitely left me gob smacked. Please do another but this time do it like a work in progress. That would be something worth to see and enjoyable as well.

    Cheers.

  12. put those needles down and back away slowly...slowly...

There! Now get to work on the next build!

Marc - just fantastic - I've been waiting to see this finally posted. Excellent details (did you really scratchbuild the headset too?), all the way down to rust staining streaming off individual bolts. Kudos my friend!

PS. What did you decide for the next project...?

    • Thank you Greg, jip, the head sets are David Clark, and they were scratch built. I am looking at building a Beech Craft Baron or the Pilatus PC 21 trainer next, deciding. I am off to the Congo again tomorrow, while I am there I will look at some reference for both and hopefully make the decision. Thanks for your comment.

  13. There's no getting around the fact that's an airplane that's so ugly only its mother could love it.

Really amazing work. I followed your posts and am definitely impressed.

  14. Very Impressive. Really a very inspiring work for all modellers.
    Thanks for sharing.

  15. Oh my goodness! So fine it's shocking, a level of skill I can't imagine. What a model Marc! You must be so proud and so glad you "endeavored to persevere". Hand's down winner here...:)

    • Hey Gary, It was a difficult build, but I had so much fun doing it, I think the whole process of finding plans, looking for walk around pictures, planning and the build are what makes this so enjoyable. My Wife is my Quality Control Inspector and she wont pass anything unless its perfect, tank you for your kind comment.

  16. Marc, I'm sure this scheme probably gives children bad dreams, but as a model its fantastic, you can never achieve good modeling skills if you don't take some chances once in while. Here's an example of good modeling skill paying off. Well done !

  17. Definitely one of the most popular builds on this site and deservedly so. I'm not really into aircraft of this type but I have to admire it as a great model. Many congratulations on finishing it to your wife's high standards!

  18. Well thar you go mate... brilliant job. you are a master modeller my friend. Keep up the good work. I am sure you will soar to even greater heights.

  19. Now I know eactly what the word "modeling" means: scratch build a complete Pilartus in 1/32. Graet job, congrratulations.

  20. More than worth the November trophy Marc! Congrats on this one!
