1/35 Takom Chieftain Mk.11 Main Battle Tank

February 16, 2018 · in Armor · · 9 · 3.1K

This is the 1st model I have built and was excited to give it a go. At the time of purchase it was a brand new release for them. I think they have covered most of the versions of this legendary war machine. Overall I was impressed with the engineering, fit, and detail of the kit. The instructions were clear, and concise with good build images. It built up in a reasonable amount of time. I used Blu-Tak sticky putty to mask off the camo patterns. It is painted using acrylics type paints to include Vallejo, and Mig/AMMO. Oils and Enamel washes highlighted details and filtered the base colors. Chipping was done with the sponge method mostly. A final Testors Flat Varnish was sprayed from the can to seal and blend the overall finish. Feedback is welcomes and I hope you enjoy the pictures.

  1. Looks very realistic - I'm not an armor guy so not sure about how must rust appears, but I like it!

  6. That's awesome! I think you have got the weathering spot on!

  7. Paul, a very realistic look, I really like the camo work you did ! Well done !

  8. Having built the much earlier Tamiya kit a couple of years ago I can really appreciate this model, it looks superb, as much due to your modelling skills as the quality of the kit. Just a minor thing, you've accidentally mis-spelt Chieftain in the tags, meaning that anyone searching for Chieftain models might miss yours which would be a shame, you can easily edit your article and correct this.

  9. Excellent Big Chief, Paul!
