1/48 Otaki Ki-61 "Tony"

March 13, 2018 · in Aviation · · 5 · 2.4K

Howdy,

Finally finished this one. Markings are for Captain Ichikawa of the 3rd Chutai, 244th Sentai.

The , started back in the eighties and sitting on the shelf since then. The decals are from the Aeromaster "Eagles of the Rising Sun" set, along with hinomaru's from a Hasegawa Ki-61. Painted with Tamiya TS-5 Olive Drab over AS-12 Bare Metal Silver (both are rattle cans). The wheels in the Otaki kit are round, so in that sense they resemble wheels. I used the wheels from a Hasegawa kit instead.

Now it's on to finishing a Tamiya Ki-84 "Frank" and an AMT 1/25 1950 Chevrolet 3100 pick up truck.
