I've really loved this photo for some time and my understanding is that the pilot in this setting is none other than Lothar von Richthofen. The DIII belonged to his big brother, who passed it on to him (at least that's the story I like). Having a look on google this morning suggests the man talking to Lothar is 'possibly' Emil Schaefer. Tom C may shed some light on this.
If they have the internet in Hampshire, keep in touch, Rob.
Nice ones, thanks for posting, Rob! Hope you enjoy this resin kit over the long weekend!
Unfortunately have to go to Hampshire for most of next week, but plan on making proper start with the new month.
Is that MvR talking to the pilot in the DIII do you know? Paul
I don’t recall the citation but it’s possible I guess.

Yes v good image, and one of several Great War air images that I’ve metaphorically dusted off recently.
"...that'll buff right out..." - those Corsairs are tough, no worries.
Craig, I really did laugh out loud!
