Australian Flying Corps pilot54mm Model Cellar

May 22, 2018 · in Figures · · 10 · 1.4K

Hi all, been a while since I posted but here is one of my favourites. This started out as the Billy Bishop kit from but I only model so a new head was in order. This one is an old Verlinden one I had in the spares box.
Painted in Vallejo acrylics and flesh tones in oils.
Hope you like!

  1. The detail in this just staggers me. When it comes to figures I always struggle to translate what I see in my head into reality, no matter how many tutorials I watch or follow. Great expression on his face, like he's grappling with a problem he just can't reach.

    • Thanks David, I was contemplating having him staring at a grave marker of a fellow flier, possibly one made from a four bladed propeller which were not uncommon for aircrew. Thought it might be a little too morbid.

  2. Beautifully done! Looks like it could be the thousand yard stare.

  3. Terrific job...I never could paint figures (especially this well).

  4. Very nice painting! Inspiring work Paul!

  5. Nice job! The leather looks great.

  6. Thanks everyone for the kind words. I am working on a few more of this type and will post them here too.

  7. Beautifully done, Paul. The leather looks real!
