All B&W photos are from the Malta aerial campaign I assume? That first shot is the last moments of an SM.79? Looks like it is taken from a boat deck. Great collection here Rob

A boat….? I thought it was an aircraft – oh well. Thanks, Rob

In terms of the last photo, no idea what the story is there, but here’s a Nieuport being flown under the Arc de Triomphe in ‘19. Don’t remember it, just a nice photo.
Great collection as ever, Rob.

Looks like it’s going down with a torpedo attached. Amazing photograph of a very dramatic/tragic moment.

Great set Rob, I’ve been to the Arc de triomphe and that’s probably the safest way to get round it these days….
Any more info on the bi planes being transported inside what looks like an aircraft hold ?

GREAT set of photos, Rob! Having seen the Arc myself, I’d love to have been there when the Nieuport was flown through the archway. Reminds me of the great shot of the airplane flying through the billboard in the movie “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.”

Why is a military transport aircraft airlifting a squadron of Nieuports?
