1:48 Scale, Airfix, Boulton-Paul Defiant

This is another one of 's "New Tool" kits. It is a good kit, that also builds well, and it's a subject that is not often seen. I found it enjoyable, and would also recommend it to anyone. Trumpeter also produces a F.I, which seems ok, but it's not as good as the Airfix version, in my humble opinion.

This model represents a Defiant from No. 264 Squadron, , based at Martlesham Heath, Suffolk, England in July, 1940.

  1. Looks great! Just finished its baby brother ,1/72 version, I like the new Airfix tools.

  2. Looks wonderful Freddy.

The Trumpy kit doesn't exist in the same universe with this Airfix kit.

    • Thanks again, Tom.
I have the Trumpy kit and may build it as a “Comparison Build”,
The only thing I thought better were the decal choices given. Otherwise Airfix is, as you put it, “Doesn’t exist in the same universe.”

  3. Another nice-lookin' build (although I've never thought it was a "nice"-lookin' airplane). 🙁

  4. oh...i wish i could have it...lovely

  5. Another great-looking build!

  6. Outstanding build, Frederick!

  7. Looks great Fredrick. I cheated painting the camo on mine, used pre-made masks

    • Thanks George.
I wish I used the masks.
I used Silly Putty, and it worked very well on MRP.
I’ve heard that SP sometimes leaves stains, and that may have something to do with the paint? I have to experiment more.

  8. Looks just great Fred. I'm a "New Airfix" fan too!
