Ouroboros Miniatures New Skin Bust

October 27, 2018 · in Figures · 10 · 2.4K

The second Ouroboros Miniature I got was their Android bust and she is very cool. I got her for the Starfinder RPG as they have androids in it and it gave me some story ideas. Its a really cool mini.

  1. Some nice detailing there, certainly.

Perhaps might have preferred a full figure sculpt, though, to really get the full impact. Could do something with a base display, rising from chemical pool or something. Interesting subject.

    Thanks for posting.

  2. Aaron, thanks so much for posting this, for a number of reasons. First, it’s a great reminder to support the small guys in modelling. Also, the bust itself is wonderful; I’m looking forward to seeing you interpret this project and give her some ‘life’. Another thing is that I’ve been struggling to find new modelling areas to get my mojo going and this post has excited me with the possibilities.

Lastly, I prefer her as a bust; the classic ancient Greek/Roman pose juxtaposed with the future. I think it works very well.

    • I think right now there is a bit of a revival in busts. I did a lot of military models. But I started with figs. So the last couple of years I have been mixing my subject matter to keep things interesting and there is a lot of interesting things in figures right now. I have a couple of ideas for her. Planning stage right now.

  3. I just have to point this out because it's too good to miss...If you look at the activity posts you'll see a photo of a pristine, beautiful AI/android (suggestively, or is that just me?) taking off her 'skin'. Right below is Craig's comment (completely co-incidental, about a different post) ...

"Never too late to break out those chalks and “dirty her up” a tad if the mood strikes".

    Brilliant accident.

  4. Anyone who excels at figure painting certainly has my admiration. I couldn't even paint 48th scale pilot figures that looked 'realistic' - I was terrible at it. 🙁

    • I have won a few awards at shows for some of my stuff. BUT I am firmly a intermediate level painter. I have done some stuff that I am very happy with and some I am not. Biggest rule is always to enjoy what you do. There are some incredible figure painters out there waaaayyyyyyy better than i will ever be. I never focus on that. Just have fun. Its a hobby.

  5. Hi Aaron,

I'm friends with the guy who runs the company. I sent him a link to your review, I'm pretty sure he'll like it.
