Roadtrip Flyby: The Erickson Aircraft Collection

The Erickson Aircraft Collection Museum is located at the Madras Airport, a 45 minute drive north of Bend, Oregon on Hwy 26 near the intersection of Hwy 97N. The collection was originally founded by Jack Erickson of sky crane and aerial firefighting fame. Most of the aircraft featured are in flying condition. On the day I popped in, the B-17G Flying Fortress was out on the circuit and the P-47D and replica were both in the shop. The big surprise was an actual Martin Mauler restored to static display. I was in a bit of a hurry, so these photos were taken with an iPhone. Well worth visiting. Enjoy.

  3. What a great collection! Nice seeing it.

  4. Wow! There's some gorgeous planes there. I've never seen a P-40 in Natural Metal. Thanks for sharing, Eric!

  5. Wow, nice collection. I'm ashamed to say as a native Oregonian I had no idea this collection existed!

  6. Some of the planes were once part of the Tillamook Air Museum including the P-38. I was surprised to see the B-25J "Heavenly Body" there. It once was owned by Mike Pulpich and formerly lived at the Van Nuys Airport in SoCal where I saw it last.
