WIP: Bf109 E-7 Cockpit
Here is the completed cockpit of my Airfix 1/48 Bf109 E7. The moulding it very good yet lots of details were missing. I scratchbuilt most of the finer details which is something I really enjoy doing. Some details aren't 100% accurate but rather a bit of "a wire would look cool there". I would really like to hear your feedback and critisism!

I started doing the same, many years ago, for the 1/32 Hasegawa Bf-109 E, but for the moment it's on stand-by. I've redone the whole pilot seat, and have also added a lot of details especially on the side walls. Based on pics and drawings of real Messerschmitt Bf109, even if not necessarily the E version.

There are so many versions of the aircraft that the early versions differ so much from the later versions, making it hard to find just the right references. I know your pain so don't worry haha!
Looks good from here, Matthew...I'd venture to say every -109 cockpit had its' own little "nuances" and no two were exactly the same, so I think a little artistic license in the detail department is completely warranted. 🙂
Thank you very much! After looking at reference photos nothing is ever the same in 109s. Parts are either different colours or just different alltogether. Luckily it is that which works in my favour so I don't have to be 100% accurate with the whole build.

Further proof of how great this kit is. A beginner can do it with an excellent result, as well as an accomplished "model artist" like you.
One "heads up" - the prop is a bit "skinny". If you have any of the Eduard 109s, there are extra props in them, which will fit and look right.

I like this a lot, Matthew. Has some character which is nice. A lot of model cockpits are a little sterile but this has style.

Thank you very much! I like to think that when I build a model, I am making something which although it is an attempt at accurately representing a real life object, it is still something which no one else has on their shelves!
