1/700 scale KM Pekan (Maritime Patrol Vessel)

November 22, 2018 · in Ships · · 3 · 3.3K

Good day to all ,

This is a model of the Malaysian Maritime Patrol Vessel named that was given by the Japanese goverment as an MOU deal regarding naval military assets where the ships was formerly known as the Erimo class patrol vessel used by the Japanese Coast Guard.

The kit itself is from which is the Erimo class patrol vessel , certain conversion was needed to make it into KM Pekan's classifications. First and foremost the markings was different compared to the original ones which was self printed , as well the deck markings which had "PK" letters to signify the ship's code. The structure also had to be modified using custom PE parts for mast and railings. The radar structure was added from a leftover of other models where the size was good enough to match the current ship. I made two modes of it where one is during the ships ceremonial event with all its naval flags are hoisted and another is in operational mode where its helicopter is at an airborne state. Overall the size of the ship is quite small for a scale model (approx around 8-10cm) I might do another version of it with water base diorama if I have the time. I have attached the real photo of KM Pekan and its former self as Erimo in the picture thread.

Thanks for reading !

  1. Very nice looking models. As a U.S. Coast Guard veteran I can appreciate the pictures. Nice colors and detail, especially in such a small scale. Great work!

  2. Hello Mee Wan,
My sincere compliments regarding these very small CG ships in a very colorful paint scheme.
