Eduard Spitfire Mk. VIII “Grey Nurse”

November 27, 2018 · in Aviation · · 4 · 2.1K

Greetings & salutations fellow modelers!

Here it is! This model was awarded to me for being selected from amongst those submitting their first article to Imodeler.

This was my first kit. I must express mixed feelings regarding the way this kit was designed. In my opinion some assemblies had too many parts involved. My examples are the landing gear wells & exhaust pipes. There are other areas I found to be more complicated than needed.

Now to the positive, the surface detail is excellent! Restrained panel lines and great look to the assembled model, they really captured the look of the Mk. VIII. The markings are what drew my attention, love them! I built the old Otaki kit some thirty plus years ago and always liked the Aussie markings and the pointed rudder of the Mk.VIII.

Camouflage pattern was painted freehand using both my trusty Paasche H1 and the finer lines with an Iwata, my first time using a double-action airbrush in many years. Clear parts & decals I rate as excellent. Thanks to Imodeler for the kit and to all I say keep on building! Merry Xmas!

  2. Me gusta el Spitfire y éste esquema de color es muy original.Esa boca de tiburón queda mejor que en los P-40 de los tigres voladores de Chennault.Felicidades,me dan ganas de hacerme uno y eduard parece buena opción.
