On This Day…November 25th
The prototype Martin B-26 Marauder (M40-1361) took off today on its maiden flight on 25 November 1940.
The results of two Kamikaze attacks on 25th November, 1944 on the USS Intrepid (CV-11). The attacks killed 66 men and the second photo shows the view from the USS New Jersey (BB-62) as the first aircraft hit the carrier

As well as the Maurader it was also the first flight of the mighty Mosquito today, in 1940. On 25 November, the prototype made its first flight, piloted by Geoffrey de Havilland Jr., accompanied by John E. Walker, the chief engine installation designer.

Another sobering day in history. My next-door neighbor's son is an "Agent Orange Kid." Physically, he's 49; mentally about 15 or 16. His Dad, Len (RIP) was my close friend & neighbor for 15 years. He was in the 7th Cav in Viet Nam - arriving as an FNG or "Newbie" in the unit featured in "We Were Soldiers" ONE WEEK after they were finally finished with that battle.
That Thanksgiving meal is really something! I'm not real big on "Roast Tom Turkey" but that ham is awesome and tasty!
Thanks for checking in, Jeff. The legacy of these wars are truly awful. I keep wondering how the world would have been different had we not had the World Wars (and the others). All those skilled, brave, (best of their generation) men just lost, wiped of the the gene pool. Of course, we live in the world we live in, or, as my 15 year old constantly reminds me, “it is what it is, Dad”.

I lost a friend who died from cancer due to "Agent Orange" a few years before he was going to retire from his job in Public Safety...
He was a helicopter crewman with the Marines in Vietnam.
