Eduard 1/48 F6F-5 Hellcat

December 19, 2018 · in Aviation · · 11 · 3.9K

An excellent model for construction, a rare model that you can say "shake and bake". I even built 1/72 Eduard , and in this scale is also a great plastic.

  1. Predrag, I have to agree this is an excellent kit (having built 2 myself). Your build here looks great. A nice touch on the weathering, of a well used Hellcat with not forgetting it was a ship board airplane and would be worn & sun baked but not too dirty. I also like the paint scheme very much. Well done !

    • After Essex's 94-day record-breaking cruise (VF-84 was aboard with the rest of CVG-84), the airplane would have definitely looked like this.

The kit is indeed a winner, particularly in the Profipack edition.

  2. Excellent Hellcat, Predrag! I like the color scheme and the weathering you've done. As Terry said, these would be sun-bleached but not dirty. Most F6Fs are seen in the late war all dark blue, so this makes a nice change.

    Bravo!

  3. Fantastic build, and I agree with Terry that your weathering and detailing looks great. Panel lines not too heavy, etc. A very realistic finish.

  4. De gran plástico gran maqueta.Muy real con el desgaste justo

  5. Very nice Hellcat, a solid build indeed.

  6. Nicely done, I like how you have dulled the GSB finish, I found while working on gloss gull grey aircraft that after a while at sea they had a layer of oxidation on the paint that dulled the finish quite a bit. Not sure if the paint of the 1940s was the same as the 1990s-2000s, but photographs show you did well!

  7. Nice looking Cat, I like it.

  8. Beautifully done. A true work of art!
