FineMolds 1/72 A6m5b model 52 ZEKE (Nakajima built)
My last completed build for 2018. FineMold’s example of the late war Zeke. I’ll have to get around to building one of Tamiya’s 1:72 A6Ms to do a fair assessment of FineMold’s offering. Fit was very good, detail very fine, but lacking in some minor areas.
I added a few aftermarket details, Master cannon barrels and a Quickboost resin/PE gun sight. Some scratch built additions include copper ignition wires for the engine, copper and lead wire in the cockpit, lead wire brake lines, scrap PE Fret for the landing gear position indicators, and scrap built cockpit access foot step and hand holds.
Paints are Mr. Color custom mixed. Hinomarus are painted. The only decals are the tail numbers and a few data stencils.
one of my favorite aircraft, and surprisingly for me, my first in seventy-second scale .

Hard to believe it’s in 1/72 scale! Exquisite details and some solid painting makes the model one step above competition

WoW! I LOVE the Zero! Well done, Roger. We don’t see enough Japanese planes here, in my humble opinion (IMHO) Yours is one of the best I’ve ever seen. The finish is outstanding as are the little details. Speaking of little, these photos could easily be of a MUCH larger model! I remember the old Airfix, Revell, Aurora, etc. kits of the late 1950s & early 1960s (that’s what I began building) and this beauty is a far cry from what was available then!
Bravo!

Another eloquent sublime build. My first impression is that it was in 1/48. It totally works on many levels. Nothing over stated, nothing out of sink and everything working together as one. A zen model.
Two thumbs up.

Yes, it’s really hard to believe the tiny scale. What a brilliant, sharp little build – and such a great, restrained paint job too.

Roger, A really suburb build, I really like your paint work. The little extras you added especially your scratch build parts look great. This is really nice !
