Sonderkommando Elbe ME-109 G

December 19, 2018 · in Aviation · · 9 · 2.6K

Hi again, this is my build of 's scale ME-109 G. I made it to replicate an aircraft of the Sonderkommando Elbe squadron that has already accomplished its mission. This squadron was made up of ME-109s and FW-109s. They were used to ram into american bombers during the Allied daylight bombing raids. The pilots of the ramming aircraft was to bail out before impacting the bomber. I scratch built the frames inside the fuselage from old decal paper and the wires to control the elevators and rudder. I used my dad's Dremmel tool to thin the plastic to make bullet holes. I hope to build more crash scenes, so can I have any advice for future builds?

  1. You are off and running to building great dioramas. Sheperd Paine was a diorama building legend and his books are available on Amazon. Google him, his work is amazing, especially for those that grew up in the 70's and 80's with Monogram as the best game in town. Keep up the good work!

  2. Creative use of styrene! Well done.

  3. Well done, Oliver!

  4. Good looking diorama.

  5. Great job and a interesting piece of history.

  6. Oliver put a lot of thought, research and effort into this. Pictures do not do it justice!
