1/48 Monogram XJD-1 Target Tug

January 26, 2019 · in Aviation · · 14 · 2.6K

I was searching the internet for photos of this aircraft when I first encountered iModeler.com. I signed up right away, and this is the first model I've completed as a member. My model represents one of two A-26C Invaders aircraft the Navy got from the Army in 1945, redesignated as XJD-1 (Bu 57991). It is out of the box, other than filling in the top turret opening. I painted it with Testers Yellow rattle can and Model Master Gloss Sea Blue applied with an airbrush. I hope you like it.

  10. Robert, this is a great 1st project! Welcome to iModeler! I LOVE the A-26 aircraft ... they are one of the most handsome prop aircraft of the WWII period (and later) EVER made. To me it ranks up there with the Mosquito and the Tigercat twin-engined speedsters! Interesting paint scheme, too - you did a great job of it.

    Bravo!

    • Since I've always been a fan of WWII Navy aircraft, I had never paid much attention to the Invader, but since doing the model have a lot more appreciation for this Douglas aircraft. Thanks for the comments!

  12. A very nice rendition of the Invader. Welcome aboard!

  13. Fantastic, now I have to get one. The Testors rattle can is exactly what I used on my JM-1
