Monogram 1/48 Vought Kingfisher
The ancient Monogram Kingfisher is still a very nice kit. The boxart on Revell/Monogram's last re-issue is an artist's conception of the aircraft in the photo, I discovered well after I had started my kit. My interpretation of the same aircraft varied somewhat, as far as insignia goes, I found out, after seeing the latest rendition. I have to thank Jack Mugan for the red surround, stars n bars in the size I required.
The kit was OOB (the mast antenna was lost just prior photo shoot) and after the kit was assembled according to instructions, the real fun started. I like the way the weathering turned out, but trying to duplicate the photo took more time than the build itself.
Those "ancient" Monogram kits ARE still good kits, I agree - and you did a good job on the 'reconstruction' of the pic as well. Nice work, Joe.

I think you got it spot on, Joe. You ought to take a shot of the model in black and white and see how it comes out. Beautiful job!
Just out of curiosity, are there national markings on both the lower wings as well?
