Revell 1/48 Ventura Mk II
I have recently completed this 1/48 Revell Ventura Mk II.
The kit went together fairly well and the only problem areas I found were the weak rear wheel strut (reinforced mine), the very minute contact areas for the bomb bay doors if open (closed mine) and the very flexible antenna.
I have completed this model in the colour scheme used on two of the South African Air Force 25 Squadron Ventura II's. The decals are aftermarket and were obtained from MAV decals in South Africa.
Paints used are as follows:
Lower fuselage and underneath wings - Vallejo Grey/White mixed with a small drop of Vallejo Pale Blue Grey.
Upper fuselage and wings/tails - Humbrol spray can Arcylic Dark Earth and Tamiya spray can RAF Dark Green II.
Excellent SAAF Ventura! You did an amazing job on this kit. Well done! Nice to see a SAAF model on Imodeler. The SAAF used the Ventura for coastal patrols well into the 1950's until replaced by the more capable Avro Shackleton.

Thanks Robert. The plane is on the large place mat that I use for building and that in turn is on a cat scratching post/perch. Only thing high enough for me to take photos without bending down too much.
