February 13, 2019 · in Aviation · · 19 · 3.1K

Flown by Lt. Elias Kuhlein of II./JG 51 Radomir, Bulgaria 1944. Extra detailing added to cockpit using some Aires resin and parts I made. The wheel wells, drop tank and rack, also received additional work.

  1. Dale, Aaaah, the old hasegawa kit, a wonderful kit that can still holds its own as a nice kit, even with a few inaccuracy's to satisfy the rivet counters and or "know it all's", (in this case, commonly known as the Luftwaffe mafia), this kit can still be built into a lovely model as we have here. A very nice and attractive scheme and a nice touch of weathering. This is very nice !

  2. Good-lookin' build, my friend...I like it. πŸ™‚

  3. This looks great ! I echo the comments above...

I have always liked building the Hasegawa 109. For an older kit, it has stood the test of time rather well. It's not quite up to the current industry standards, but hey, it's 20 something plus years old. I have several of these left to build in the stash. The fit is good and the details are good enough for me, right out of the box. The only thing I "might" do when I get around to building mine are to add a seat harness.

You can never have too many 109's in your collection... πŸ™‚

Yours looks spot on and I like how you have presented it. Well done my friend, and "liked". πŸ™‚

  4. Really nice work on this. The Hasegawa kits are still good. (Came out in 1991, Louis, they're ancient in model terms πŸ™‚ )

  5. πŸ™‚ … Greetings … πŸ™‚ :
Great work on this one Dale, always did find the 109 with the WATCHFUL EYE very intimidating, just as a SHARK MOUTH. It gives it character. Very nice work on the weathering.

  6. Anyone who built Hasegawa F/G/K mould lineage (and I mean who hasn’t ?) can spot in a glance that your G isn’t exactly OOB. There are several improvements that bring your model to a higher level of detail, but the one that does it better is your skilled airbrushing. Very good, I like it! Are the decals from the box?

  7. A great looking build - love the weathering and finish work.

  8. Very nice job on the venerable (if a bit outdated) Hase kit. Great fuselage mottle and nicely scaled brake lines. I must have a dozen of these F/G/Ks (and a couple of Emils too) left in the stash, and will build 'em if I live long enough! πŸ˜‰

    • Thanks Stan. I like the old Hasegawa kits and they and the aftermarket sets can be had for a bargain compared to the prices of the newer kits. Outdated ? I guess it's a matter of what one likes. I have a new Eduard 109 G -6 and quite frankly I'm not a fan of the rivets. Reminds me of the old Otaki kits. I haven't bought the new Tamiya kit, but I think it will be more to my liking.
