1/48 Revell F-86D

February 2, 2019 · in Aviation · · 10 · 2.6K

I finished this one a couple of months ago, I'm still looking for a good BMF paint. This one was painted with Alclad. This is a really nice kit to build and I used the kit decals which went on with no issues and using decal solvent. I have another one in the stash and might do that one soon.

  1. Top !
    Great looking aircraft,markings and paintwork

  2. Well done. Not a fan of the Sabre Dog, I feel the addition of the radar spoiled the beautiful lines. Having said that, I do love the colourful markings of the era and this will be added to my growing list of kits to buy

  3. Nicely done Chris, that Revell kit is really a nice kit, parts fit well, good detail, and lots and lots of stickers. Good job, I like it.

  4. Nice job on the "D" model (although I must agree with George on the "aesthetic" aspect re the airframe) - still a well done build. 🙂

  5. You might like Vallejo metallic paints, but don't use their black primer, it comes out "pebbly." Use thinned Tamiya gloss black and all is well. No chance this paint will eat your model, unlike some of the Alclads.

    Nice result with your model.

  6. Chris,

This is what I call a box top kit. Any manufacture would be proud to have this build on the top and side of their box. A very neat and professional build. No silvering of decals...
You wonder what the Air Force was thinking on relying on a interceptor that only had un-guided missles and no gun. Unless the powers that be knew that the only planes coming over the pole was a copy of the B-29.

Two thumbs up looking forward to seeing the next build.

  7. A great looking Sabre! Your NMF came out very nice, and the overall scheme is great. Nicely done.

  8. nice work - especially the decals. They all look painted on and no trace of carrier film - how did you do that? really looks great.

  9. Love this. Good work.
