Tamiya 1/35 Panther G and Miniart Base

February 10, 2019 · in Armor · · 2 · 1.8K

This is the 1/35th G on the Miniart base. It's an attempt to recreate the latter stages of the Battle of the Bulge, when the Germans had to retreat, abandoning much of their equipment due to lack of fuel. I went for the abandoned "no body loves" me look. I used railway scenics for the snow. The small pools of melt water are drops of Johnsons Clear (before they changed the formula).

Word of caution: I used the kit tracks and not replacement ones. The plastic in the tracks did not react well to the scenics glue for the snow, becoming brittle a few days later and breaking off. If you're going to do the same, I'd recommend using the Tamiya replacement tracks. They might not be the best one's around, but if you're going to cover them in mud, dirt and snow, why go to the extra expense...

  1. Nice build! you really got the abandoned effect, plus it looks cold.
