F-105F Thunderchief ,1/72 Monogram
Inspired by Greg Kittinger's father's photos, I decided to build an F-105F, using Monograms 1/72 kit. I tried to replicate the markings in Mr. Kittinger's images the best that I could, including the buzz number on the wing tanks, of which is rather unusual. I used Testor's aluminum out of the rattle can. It's of an era just before the war paint, before Thud ridge, SAM sites, how many bombs dropped, body counts and the six o'clock news. Always liked the Thud, when my father was at Republic he worked on the F-105 prototype.

Nice work, Robert! You did a fine job of replicating that aluminum lacquer finish. Monogram’s F-105s in both 1/72 and 1/48 are some of my favorite kits.

The THUD is my favorite jet of all time, a revolution in supersonic flight and fire control avionics! Well done Robert! An honor to Greg's dad indeed!

That's a fine looking Thud you got there Robert. Had a Thud pilot who flew them in Vietnam tell me the plane was a triple thread. It could bomb you, strafe you, or fall on you. Either way it's still a good looking century fighter.

Man - I have been itching to do this same project, and you really upped the enthusiasm level for me getting to it! I love the natural metal with the OD spine - like dad flew. Yours came out really nice Robert! Well done.
